Protesting elimination of classical music

This is the first time I’ve had to cross a picket line to get to a faculty meeting.

A group of protesters were outside the building where we met.

As you can see, not only were they armed with posters but stringed instruments.

The group was protesting the dean’s decision to change the format of Classic 89, the NPR affiliate, from classical music to news.

The station’s name will be changed, and the Classic 89 merchandise has gone on sale. Classical music has been moved to one of the station’s high definition channels.

Fans of classical music can have classical music but only if they purchase a HD radio and don’t live too far from Gainesville, as the HD signal doesn’t carry as far as the analog signal.
