Eleven new mentors. Four states. Five trainers rotating through sessions on recruiting new teachers, working with principals, learning to develop a mentoring relationship, establishing an action plan for implementing mentoring in their states, etc.
The mentors are problem solving with partners or working in table groups to develop strategies, and role playing. They are writing reflections, like “What is your primary challenge as a mentor.”
This is the second year of the JEA Mentoring Program, as we move to 21 mentors in eight states — California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon and Wisconsin.
