Azaleas in bloom

What a beautiful time of year with the azaleas in bloom.

Azaleas are a colorful subject for me as I take Liz Steel‘s SketchingNow Watercolour course.

I’ve taken these photos of azaleas around town, in a nearby park and in my yard. I hope the photos can brighten up the day for those of you who are in cold and snowy locations. This is a reminder that Spring will reach you soon.

The azaleas are in an array of colors — dark pink, light pink, coral red and white.

Azaleas are popular for landscaping yards and businesses. So the whole town is filled with the bright blossoms.

Azaleas also grow in parks and forests — some planted by Nature and doing just fine without lawn care service.

Like other blossoming plants and shrubs, how long the azaleas are in bloom is dependent on the weather. Strong wind and rain a few days ago knocked some of the blossoms off the bushes.

So I’m enjoying the blossoms while they are here.
