“New Media, New Tools and the New News Cycle” is Ellyn Angelotti’s topic this afternoon.

She started with an into graphic to illustrate how the news cycle has changed with people who aren’t “journalists” can be breaking the news and then the news media picking up and reporting on that.

She put us in groups and asked us to discuss how we are using social media is being used in classes — from the student and teacher perspectives.

We’re now sharing how we’ve used Facebook and Twitter. One of the topics is helping students be engaged in class without getting off track. She suggested coveritlive.com
